MARIA PAPPAS
COOK COUNTY TREASURER
TELL SPRINGFIELD TO KEEP MONEY IN OUR COMMUNITIES
Call to Action
A study just released by the Cook County Treasurer’s Office found that hedge funds, private equity firms and others are taking advantage of Illinois’ property tax law to profit from our communities.
In order to close loopholes in the current law, please join with me in calling upon Springfield to take action.
Greedy tax buyers are seeking tax sale refunds for frivolous reasons. It has to stop. When the law allows millions of dollars in interest to be given to tax buyers, money is taken from communities, schools, libraries and fire departments.
It only takes minutes to contact your state representative and state senator. Urge them to change the law so money stays in our communities and not in the bank accounts of wealthy tax buyers.
